We at THE FOLD aren’t just about raunchy comedy. Much as we love to indulge ourselves in it, we also enjoy a good head-expanding, philosophical time. And that’s what we get from Brady Brim-DeForest’s Tiny Thoughts. It’s brilliant, mesmerizing collection of multi-media haiku. It takes blogging to another level — it’s also a gallery of cultural reflections. It’s one of the best uses of Tumblr we’ve seen. In addition to Tiny Thoughts, Brim-DeForest is CSO of Tubefilter and a member of the Steering Group of DataPortability and co-founder of Go-Sustainable.

Arse Elektronika

KIT O’CONNELL spoke brilliantly about new media at Arse Elektronika 2008 in a presentation by Continuous Labs (along with REESA BROWN) and mentioned us. Thank you, Kit!

Has our planet been consumed by an artificial blackhole of our own wreckless creation?  Has lab-grown Dark Matter infected your blood and/or soft tissues?  Is the Higgs boson a wrathful old-Testament God particle bent on punishing humanity?

Dame Helen

We Foldies love Helen Mirren for her talent and her beauty, but also for her aesthetic-erotic daring. So why not pause to enjoy her latest press coups too. First, appearing on a beach in a bikini and making it all look good at age 62:

And, more recently, giving an interview in which she asserted that she doesn’t think Mike Tyson was guilty of rape, that she used to enjoy cocaine, and that she thinks prostitution should be legalized.

Here’s a nice recent opening-night pic of Dame Helen:

Don’t even try to tell me you’ve never fantasized about a giantess deep-throating your entire body.  Right?  I mean… I’m right, right?  Anybody?

I also have to say how impressed I am with the acting in this clip, and I’m being serious here.  Very thoughtful performances from both of them.  Wonder if they would do a cameo in THE FOLD?

In many ways, THE FOLD can be viewed as a portal to the Realms of Bliss, a sporadically porous membrane between dimensions of euphoria.

Well, on the other side of the coin are these gateways to the Abyss, conveniently documented at the handy and fascinating website, “The Catalogue of UK Entrances to Hell.” Each gateway has its own brief description, and the list is constantly expanding to include newly discovered sites.  Enjoy!  (carefully…)

I love when life imitates science-fiction, don’t you?  Even when the overtones are sinister, it still gives me a weird thrill.  First there was last week’s Neuromancerish assault on the cyber-battlefields of Georgia, and now this awesome US Defense Intelligence report emerges on the future of psychic warfare, complete with ominous quotes from committee chairmen about bullets being replaced by “pharmological land mines.”  Quoth the Chairman:  “This is a black hole that needs to be filled with light.”

Tumblr

Have you signed up for a Tumblr blog yet? Tumblr’s appeal as a blogging platform is that it makes it incredibly easy to post: links, pix, vids, thoughts … Sign in, upload, you’re done.

Tons of people seem to have discovered the joy of Tumblr — and it’s fun to see that many of them are using the platform as an online way to stash their porn and erotica finds. I mean, does the world really need another political commentator? In any case: The online public thing seems like a cool new cyber-development in the long history of porn collections.

Anyway, many of these Tumblr porno-collection blogs are loads of fun to explore, and surprisingly full of personality and quirkiness. I’m a big fan of the well-named Tumblr blog 69. Check it out. And be sure to check out 69’s recommended links. There’s much more erotica where that came from.
